My name is Jordan Sobierajski. I graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Faculty of Artistic Education of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce specializing in easel painting. Currently, I am in my second year of a PhD programme in panting at UJK in Kielce.
The human being is in the centre of my artistic explorations. A human being as a form, as an entity which is subject to a duality of nature. In my works I often tend to emphasize individual characteristics of a person by means of colour schemes, gesture, or selection of angle and framing. I attempt exploration of the layers of human psyche transferring my observations onto paper, canvas, or digital media. I consider the form of a human to be a perfect form which determines my artistic activity. I regard artistic skills and techniques as an important asset which enriches my language of expression. I rely on heartfelt intuition in my creative work. I constantly look for new means of artistic expression and, among others, I add new media such as tablet painting to my artistic repertoire. However, I always go back to the classical painting styles, and most importantly to oil painting.
In the series of the graphic works presented in the form of a triptych I want to express emotions – impressions which are found in everyday life of a contemporary “Eva”. The choice of her roads or paths in life is an essential element here which can be understood in a symbolic and multi-faceted manner. Explorations into “Eva’s ways” was an exciting time for me and I hope the viewers will also discover more than one layer of meaning hidden in my works despite the seemingly obvious form of the “She” triptych.
